Adam Williams is a PhD Student at the University of Minnesota in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology.
Adam has a diverse academic background including: a Bachelor in Economics and Philosophy, a Masters in Software Engineering, a Masters in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology, a Graduate Certificate in Space Resources, and a Masters in Space Resources.
His PhD research topic is the transformation of lunar regolith using biology (including worms) to drive large scale agriculture in space. Regolith is the Moon ‘dirt’ but with his methods this dirt becomes living soil ready for crops.
Adam’s future career goals are Astronaut and Moon Farmer. For a plan B he is working towards a hi-tech think tank R&D director to work on advanced projects.
Adam’s professional work is as an Engineering lead and consultant specializing in test, Verification and Validation (V&V) and program and project management. He has worked in many industries including healthcare, medical devices, finance and banking, cybersecurity, hardware, aerospace and industrial systems. The focus is on the development of high-quality, low-risk products for customers.
Adam has a passion for exploration and a hobby involving the same. He also enjoys sports like kayaking, skiing, hiking and wandering around on road trips and such. He is fascinated with older machinery and how things were made to work without computers.
